That is it. I have lost the battle, fought seriously since 2003.
The battle I call “Sticking to Information Determinism”. From now on I will not try to digest all interesting information channels, but let the winner Sampling to rule my information world.
No more bad feeling for me of not being able to follow all RSS, email discussion lists, interesting forum posts, digests of news, etc. Besides, no more expectation that I can know what was said and discussed in the realm of my information interests.
From now on I am going to sample all the sources, snatch some relevant bits and pieces, then the rest “Mark as Read” without feeling of any loss.
For sure, some small streams will stay to be digested fully, like: personal mails, direct business correspondence.
The change I expect will help me stand strong as Master of Information, rather than constantly fighting as Slave, who cannot win the constant sinking in information quick-sand.
The trade I do is to exchange the Determined feeling of “I know what was happening/discussed” into “maybe it was there”. The loss is the ability to say “for sure”, the gain no more feeling that I fail to catch up on faster and faster run.
The saved time I am going to reinvest in learning new ways of information management, better quality of analysis.
In future blog posts I plan to share the lessons I learned so far.
